For any students that are currently rotating in ATL, have you found a good library to study in with great study hours, no parking fees, computer access? If you have please PM or list the libraries or places that are great for studying.

In order to match in 2014...
When should I take step 2 CK and step 2 CS? When should I turn in application. By the way I tentatively expect to begin rotations the first week in August 2012.

Once you have paid the balance on the tuition and fees how long does it take the school to get out the letter of good standing & proof of insurance to the clinical site (such as AMG or other locations)?

Step 2 study during clinical rotations
I want to get a head start on studying for step 2 during clinical rotations. So far I have a copy of the 1st Step 2 CK and I plan to get Step up to Medicine. Is there any other book that one would recommend for step 2 study such as Master the Boards, etc. Not looking for a review course until next summer.

Prepping for Step 1 and clinicals set-up
I'm new to this forum - prepping for the step 1 at the moment and planning on taking it in September.
Meanwhile, I've been researching and reading a lot about clinicals, esp. on this forum.
I must say I'm worried but I'm also hoping that it will go smooth.
I was wondering if those already in rotations can shed some light on a few questions.
1 - Do we have greenbook rotations at all (since I've read a lot of confusing posts - some saying yes and others no)?
2 - Is it possible to stay in one state for all rotations?
3 - If a third party is arranging for our rotations, do we have to pay anything to them in addition to the tuition we already pay to the school?
4 - Are Illinois, Tennessee, Atlanta, Virginia, the only states where rotations are available? If not, what are some others?
5 - How do we make sure that the rotation we are being put in is not just an observership?
6 - Any recommendations on how to plan out rotations so as to avoid being stuck in longer wait periods between rotations? (1-3 weeks is not too bad but anything longer causes too much wasting of time)
Thank you for any information that you can provide on my questions.

Shelf Exams and Grades
Does Windsor provide Shelf exams for every rotation? Also, how does Windsor grade our rotations? A, B, C, D, or is it based on a pass/fail? I ask because it is very important to have a letter grade instead of a pass/fail for rotations. Also, it would seem very difficult for someone to get an A on their rotation without taking a Shelf exam lol. To the residency co-ordinator, it would seem very bizarre that a student get straight A's in clinicals without having to take a single Shelf exam LOL

Atlanta rotation schedule
For students who are completing or who have completed rotations in Atlanta, what is the typical schedule for IM, FM, Peds, etc.

Is completing my mph while doing rotations a bad idea?
for those of you who are currently doing rotations or already completed them, does it sound too far fetched if I was to take 1 online class per semester (1 semester= 4 months) while doing rotations? Is this an overkill or can it be done without me neglecting my rotation grades and step 2 ck/cs prep?

Visa for US clincal Rotations
For Windsor students who are not US or Canadian citizens or residents, which visa do we apply to enter US for the rotations. I am sure there are Windsor students like me, who did there rotations in US. Can they or someone with the proper information please reply.
Can someone who has been through the process post their experience.
From what I researched you have to apply for either a B1/B2 or an F1 visa.
The school asked to apply for B1 but with that you cannot enter the country for more than 6 months (our rotations are 2yrs long).

greenbook/bluebook rotations only matter for licensure and not residency right?
the whole concept of doing greenbook or bluebook rotations only comes into play when discussing whether you can get licensed in a particular state right and NOTHING to do with residency?

does family medicine have a review book? or do we just use IM book for Family medicin
How do you guys study for family medicine rotations, since no one provided a resource for that. Does reading the internal medicine textbook/review book suffice for family medicine?
↧
does order of core rotations matter?
1- Is there a recommended order of rotations that a student should complete? Or is order insignificant.
2- Would it be a bad idea to start off with Internal medicine for one's first rotations? This is assuming one has no clinical experience but prepared themselves well for the rotation (by reading bates and the internal medicine book). If so, are there any students that started off their clinicals with internal medicine and what was the experience like?

my question about greenbook rotations for RESIDENCY in states, (not licensure)
Please delete this thread. I realized that all our rotations, regardless of green book or blue book are either directly acgme approved or within that umbrella. Simply put, they are all acgme approved. So I realize this shouldn't be an issue for residency in states.

Rotation requirements?
What are the requirements during rotations? Do we need to keep some sort of a journal about the patients we see? Do we have an exam at the end of the rotation? What all do we need to be doing during the rotation other than just attendance?
